Meet adoptable Patton and Powell! These babes are 6 week old bundles of adorable terror. I'm now fostering for a local rescue called Fred's Friends. They focus on bottle baby kitten and puppies. These two are from a litter of six and will be spending the next few weeks with me and my pack until they're old enough to adopt out. My week has been full of sleeping, pooping, playing puppies. Enjoy the photos of these nuggets while I go scoop some poop.

I've definitely had puppy fever for quite some time... and now I don't. :) Picking up poop twice a day and waking up throughout the night to let them poop some more is less than desirable but those faces make it worth it. Fostering is such a wonderful way to go, I get the best part! All the cuteness of puppies and then they get better homes than I could offer! I can't wait until I'm ready to get Ender a new brother or sister but until then, fostering is a great way to meet wonderful puppies waiting for their perfect forever homes.

Luke! Okay... this little guy... I have no words to explain how wonderful and goofy this gremlin is. He is almost a year old and is completely trained, off leash reliable and everything! He was trained at Bay Area Family K9 Training and if interested you could go there and learn what he knows! This 35 pound bulldog mix is an absolute gem. He is the sweetest, goofiest, cutest munchkin alive. He loves to play but doesn't need a ton of exercise. His favorite thing to do is cuddle. The second you start to rub his side he leans into you, full body weight. He walks perfectly on leash and has no prey drive. Seriously, a cat or squirrel could stare him in the face, taunt him to chase, and he'd just stare and lay down. He's also amazing with other dogs. He greets every dog with a happy butt sniff and wants to play, he ignores dogs that lunge at him (on and off leash) and he has also learned that some dogs have boundaries and don't want to be bothered. He is an all around awesome mutt who just wants a family/couple/or person to love him. For those of you interested or know of anyone interested please let me know! It has been quite an emotional roller coaster though, I must admit. (sad rant coming up)

The reason this process has been emotional is not because of Luke but because of the people who have expressed interest in him. I've had quite a few people who have wanted him (because WHO WOULDN'T?!) but the most recent couple interested in him decided not to take him. When they told me they were no longer interested, I was a little bummed and confused because they were absolutely in love with him. I asked what made them decide against him and they said "we have reservations about him being a pitbull." I'm utterly shocked. Sometimes I forget how deep the pitbull stigma runs. To meet a dog they absolutely love, who is completely trained, and perfect for them and for them to say no purely because he is a pitbull... I just can't believe it. This last bit was just for me. Sorry for those who read it and didn't want to, I'm just really... sad.

 These pitbull-labrador mix girls have captured my heart. There is no denying it. They are so happy and unbelievably sweet despite their unfortunate circumstances. They have nothing but love and wagging tails to give.

In their backyard, where they are comfortable, their true colors shine. They happily trot back and forth, following whomever happens to be with them at the time. They lie on their backs for belly rubs and cuddles trying to give as many kisses as possible to those willing. Unfortunately, because of their situation, these pretty ladies are afraid of all new things. When I grabbed a leash they both hid in fear...I was able to get the darker one (I call her Bear) out of the backyard, but it wasn't easy. The lighter one (I call her Nala) was even harder to get outside. The second she moved into the garage she pee'd everywhere and I couldn't bare to scare her even more. I let her get used to her surroundings, waiting until she was calm and comfortable, then let her go back into her backyard.

Seeing these beautiful girls in this situation really breaks my heart.  They have so much love to give but are trapped in a small area with very little human contact. I know that they can be such wonderful pets with some rehabilitation to show them the world isn't such a scary place and the right leaders willing to put in the time to train them, these girls will definitely be breed ambassadors. If I could take them in I would. This is why I need your help.

These pups really need to get out of the situation they are in. They deserve so much better and the owner doesn't have the time or money to make sure they receive proper care. Unfortunately, I'm not equipped with the right skills to take these girls in and give them the what they need to become fully adoptable pets so sharing their story is the best I can do. This gorgeous girl is a great ball of energy! She is a 5 year old puppy looking for an adventure buddy to take her on hikes and bike rides. She knows how to sit, shake, and rollover but a bit more training and you'll have yourself a star! She gets really excited around other dogs and has yet to learn proper manners so someone who is experienced with the breed or is ready to be a strong pack leader would suit her best. After a run or a bit of fetch, Ophelia is ready for a good snuggle.
